DC Real Estate and Area Events: November 2007

This is no blog to get points - SERIOUSLY! Heck,Redskins is not even my favorite team. I am a San Franscisco 49ers Fan ( Lord knows they can use a prayer or two ). But I am definitely a Sean Taylor Fan. He was having a great year. But to hear the bad news today that he is dead at the age of 24 to me is something I just can't accept - I'M SORRY BUT I JUST DONT UNDERSTAND WHY IT HAD TO HAPPEN. Just Ask Gregg Williams - ( Former Asst Head Coach/Defensive Coordinator for the Washington Redskins and now Defensive Coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaquars )he would be quick to tell you that he was definitely the best player he ever coached. Gregg Williams said that he was Special.  But in a year that started off promising in the NFL all of a sudden doesn't seem to me exciting right now.

The Indianapolis Colts,Peyton Manning aka "The Student" since he is so dedicated to learning the game. ( A lot of quarterbacks and NFL Players can learn from him ) and and Tony Dungy,finally won a Super Bowl. The New England Patriots have emerged as perhaps the greatest team of all time this year chasing records and individual marks - Tom Brady is on pace to throw like 60 TDS and a once talented player name Randy Moss has reminded some people why he is still not one of the best wide receivers today but one of the best wide receivers to ever play this game when his career is over. Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers are two old franchises with two stars - Brett Favre and Terrell Owens that have been rejuvenated all of a sudden. But as great as the stories have been,07 has not really been a good year if you really look at it. It seems to be one bad thing happening after another. Like someone said Taylor's murder this week was an all too familiar one.

The year started bad when a very young and promising cornerback for the Denver Broncos name Darrent Williams was shot and killed by a passing gunman while riding in a limo after an altercation at a local nightclub. And less than two months later,another Denver Broncos player Damien Nash collapsed and died after playing a charity basketball game in his hometown of St.Louis. In March,the Patriots Marquise Hill accidentally drowned after falling off his jet ski in his native Louisiana. Here's what suck about this - All four men were just 24 years old.

The off season was also plagued with legal trouble with Former Tennesse Titans cornerback Pacman Jones (who is now with the Dallas Cowboys) involvement in a gentleman's club shooting in Las Vegas that left someone paralyzed and Michael Vick-one of the league's most exciting player arrested with his connection to dog fighting at his property in Virginia. Even O.J is in Trouble Again - Lord help him. I just pray and hope we NEVER,NEVER SEE A YEAR LIKE THIS. This is too much to bear. I bet Roger Goddell didn't expect this. Neither did I or anybody else out there. I just pray and hope we NEVER,NEVER HAVE TO EXPERIENCE ANYTHING LIKE THIS NOT JUST IN NFL BUT IN ANY SPORTS PERIOD. Anyone who has lost a loved one this year or in the past,may their soul rest in peace. Peace. God bless.

Sell your home! Five tips to help you sell quickly for the highest valuation.

As we all know,the home sales have hit a record low even though this is a home buyers market and this will be the best time ever to buy a home since there are more supply than demand. However,some motivated home sellers have become savvy in doing whatever they can to sell their home. I would like to share with you what someone shared with me. Here are five tips to get your home sold quickly for the highest valuation:

- Prelist Home Inspections. These inspections allow home sellers to identify and repair problems rather than lose money during the sale. Statistics show that for every $1 of identified repairs, the home buyer would ask for double that in a price reduction. Paying $5,000 to repair a roof is far more enticing than losing $10,000 in the sale.

- Neighborhood Environmental Reports. These reports provide important information on known and potential contamination that may exist on or in the vicinity of a property. The seller could use this information to ensure buyers that the home is in an environmentally safe neighborhood.

- An overview of the neighborhood's assets. A list of the neighborhood's assets can help sellers market the area's positive attributes along with those of the home. Nearby schools, parks, community pools or other features can add value for a home buyer.

- Minor interior cosmetic enhancements. Upgrading or enhancing elements in a home gives potential home buyers the feeling that they can move in and feel comfortable in the home right away. Besides making kitchen and bathroom upgrades and cleaning floors and windows, the entry way should be well lit, clean and uncluttered, as it's the first room a potential home buyer evaluates.

- Minor exterior cosmetic enhances, curb appeal. Establish the right first impression by making a home's exterior more appealing. Make certain the lawn is green and mowed. Evaluate any stone walkways to be certain they're even. Plant flowers to add color and vibrancy.
