DC Real Estate and Area Events: December 2007

Hello everyone! Yeah! It is like 4:13 am and I am still up. Why? I am doing my Lowesrealtorbenefits.com online mailing for expired listings. Which brings me to this. I ran across a expired listing. I want this listing very bad because I am a fan of this person -Seriously. And in case the owner is not home,I want to leave a listing package for them.

 I don't want to leave just any ordinary listing package. I have a good listing presentation. Should I leave a copy of my listing presentation with the owner in case the person is not home? Since listing presentation and a listing package are two different things,I think that I should leave my listing package instead of my listing presentation. I want to leave a very good one.

What items shall I include in it? I know what to put in it. I don't know everything to put in it.

Does anybody have any idea?

•    4 bananas ( cut into chunks )
•    1 cup brown sugar
•   1/2 stick butter
•   1/2 tsp. cinnamon
•   1/4 cup rum ( dark or golden )
•   Vanilla ice cream
•   Cinnamon cookies.

Melt butter in a large skillet. Add cinnamon and brown sugar and cook over low heat until sugar dissolves. Add bananas and liqueur and cook until bananas are softened and brown. Carefully add the rum and tip the pan away from you to ignite the flame. Once the flame has burned away,serve Bananas Foster with ice cream and garnish with cookies.

          Actor-Activist Brad Pitt was on the Today Show with Ann Curry. Brad Pitt was being interviewed by Ann Curry. He told her that he is here because he want to help people who have lost their homes in New Orleans,LA. After his family,helping to rebuild New Orleans,LA is his top priority. "Sure I guess so." he said. "Right now,this is the focus, and we're going to see this thing through. We are going to start with 150 homes as they strolled through the razed neighborhoods which is decorated with the forms of building components - roofs,walls,foundations - draped in dark pink canvas to attract attention to the cause.

          He putting his money where his mouth is. Brad Pitt is investing $5 million dollars of his own money for this. He is asking for people's help. He even got a website where individuals can help by adopting a low flush toilet or a solar panel as a Christmas gift to a family that needs a home. He expects to have families moving back to New Orleans by next summer. William McDonough + Partners architects are one of the groups who have partnered with Pitt in the Make it Right Foundation. A total of 14 architects are involved in the team which has developed Make it Right in close consultation with community leaders in the Lower 9th Ward.

          Brad Pitt along with Angelina Jolie even brought a house in New Orleans,LA while he was filming his latest movie "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button". I think it is a great thing that Brad Pitt is trying to help people in New Orleans get back on their feet. How many times do you hear celebrities like Brad Pitt doing some great like this?  This is a great thing that he is doing this and I think we should help Brad Pitt and the foundation "Make it Right Foundation". help him accomplish his goal. Investment Guru Jim Crammer was on the Today Show on NBC yesterday with Matt Lauer on how to get rich and stay rich. Jim said that anybody can get rich and stay rich if you have 2cents or $200,000,Good or bad with money,credit card debt. Then Matt asked Jim what's the gimmick? Jim said the gimmick is homework. He said that if you do your homework,spend time analyzing good brand stocks,you can beat anybody.

• At least one hour of homework every week.
• He said that you have to have a budget.
• People should manage their own portfolio.
• Read the Quarterly and Annual report of companies.
• Listen in on the company's conference call.

Jim pick of stocks include Caterpillar,Goldman Sachs,Conocophillips,XTO Energy,Transocean Hologic,Inverness Medical Innovations,Freeport-Mc-Moran,Hewlett- Packard,Google,Pepsi,Boeing and Union Pacific. He said that you dont need any kind of stock in your portfolio.

And he said parents should buy a share of a stock for their children instead of gifts. Stocks jim's pick of stock include Disney,Viacom,Hasbro,Gap,Gymboree and McDonald's.

I am sure many of you know about this. But this for people who don't know about this story. I just found out about this story myself today. A Real Estate broker who brokered deals with celebrities included Billy Joel,Sting and Steven Spielberg was found dead in a pool of blood around her head in her Fifth Avenue penthouse by one of her two daughters by a month ago. Although they say the death appeared to be an accident,they said that they are treating her death as a homicide. She was killed by blunt force trauma to the back of the head and neck. Why would someone do such a cruel thing to somebody who everybody said was a nice person. People said that they liked her because she was bright and sophisticated. "She had a huge personality, huge," said Prudential broker Lori Barabari, who knew Stein for about six years. "She had an edge that let her be comfortable with Hollywood people, financial people, all genres of people." A book was even written about her called "The Sky's the Limit: Passion and Property in Manhattan by Steven Gaines.

How can someone who people said had no enemies by a victim of such a horrific death. She started off as a teacher,met a Seymour stein,co-founder of sire records who she later married in the 1970's. They company helped launch the careers of some artists as Madonna,The Ramones and Talking Heads. After the divorce,they said she continued to managed the Ramones and she turned her connections in the industry into clients. During the 80's,they said that she was profiled in magazines,and her pithy quotes popped up frequently in celebrity gossip columns. And despite breast cancer twice,she didn't let it slow her today. She said that she was tough as a nail. Stein's current listings include a $26 million property in Montauk and a $9 million estate in Siena, Italy.  It is so sad to see something bad happen to someone who seemed so nice,especially someone in our business. For whatever reason,it doesn't make any sense. I hope whoever did this suffers tremendously.-Now two woman are now without their mother. Life. You never know what to expect in life. That's why we should cherish every single day that we spent here on earth. Because you never know when it is going to be your time to go. R.I.P Linda Stein.
