DC Real Estate and Area Events: Help! Help! I need a domain name for my outside Active Rain Blog

Help! Help! I need a domain name for my outside Active Rain Blog

Help! Help! I need a domain name for my outside Active Rain Blog. Someone here on Active Rain told me about a month ago that when you want to choose a domain name for your blog or website, you should choose a domain name that is short and about you or the business that you are trying to advertise. Of course I want to find a very good domain name so that I can be found by people on the major search engines.

But my problem is just coming up with a domain name that is short-which is where I have hit a brick wall.

Picture of Brick Texture - Free Pictures - FreeFoto.com

I have some names in mind. However some of them are either too long or I think are not strong names that people usually don't search for in the search engines. I want something that is about Washington DC.

However I am thinking that should it be just about Washington DC? What should it be about? Should my domain name be less than 10 letters? And if it is more than 10 letters,is it okay? So what name should I choose?

Since many of you all have already set up your outside Active Rain blog I would really appreciate it if you can help me. Heck, you can even leave some ideal names that I should consider using. Thanks in advance for your all of your help.

In a competitve market like DC, it will be tough to achieve meaningful page rank unless you specialize in a more narrow market niche within DC. Is there a particular area you primarily focus on? Then simply select a domain name that contains good relevant search terms accordingly, i.e., TruxtonCircleHomes.com or CrestwoodMDRealEstate.com

'Did some checking and just emailed you the best ones I could find that are available.

How about GETSDCSOLD.COM

Posted by Brian Faulkner (Pine Island Realty) about 1 year ago

Lanre, I'm thinking...but unfortunately I'm hitting the same brick wall! If I come up with something striking, I will email you.  Looks like you have good comments here. Good luck, Lanre!

Lanre,

You domain name should be 60-65 characters long.  WashingtonDCRealEstate would be perfect but I can bet it's already gone.  Go to bustaname.com and see what kind of variations are available.

I like Brian's GetDCSold.com That's pretty good. Or you could focus on DCMetro as a combination. That will help you cover DC, Maryland and Virginia...

Hey Lanre. I like getdcsold.com, but how about LanreSellsDC.com?

Posted by Tanya Venable Greenville Home Staging Spartanburg and Upstate SC Home Staging (Fresh Eye Designs, LLC) about 1 year ago

I will put my vote for the last one..but somehow the word home or real estate might want to be in there.  Just a thought.  My domain names are usually too long....a real pain when you have to type them over and over :)  Good luck with your choices...

Lanre:  My web guru said that using my name:  janegrant.net  (janegrant.com was taken)  boosted my name to the first page of google.  I was on page 5 only one month ago but then I have a common name and was competing for it!   Good Luck in picking!

Lanre,
Good luck, you're getting some good suggestions.

www.DChomes4Sale.com Kinda short 'n' sweet. Is there a particular DC neighborhood you specialize in?? Choose that? I have www.ZilkerParkHomes.com as that is a specific area I work in a lot. Good luck choosing the right one!

I never thought about www.dchomes4sale.com. That is a very good one. I specialize in DC neighborhoods such as Anacostia,Deanwood,Congress Heights and Petworth Washington DC. Thank you very much.
