Things to do in Washington DC: Protecting your Reputation!

Protecting your Reputation!

Protecting your Reputation. With all the social media sites, websites and blogs out there that make it easy to rant or talk about yourself, products and services (By the time you read this, there will be 1,000 new ones not including the new ones currently in the making),there is a good chance somebody's talking about you or your company online. Why do you think many people have Google Alerts which is among many tools companies are using to keep tabs on competitors and scan for online customer comments.

Many of these applications inexpensive applications are robust for most small businesses. Large companies also use these tools to exchange information among sales, marketing and customer service departments may want to upgrade. So besides Google Alerts, what other tools out there can you and/or your company use to protect your reputation? Here are some that I want to share with you all.

  • Google Alerts-I think most of us here know about Google Alerts. If Mr.Untech savvy (that would be me Ladies and Gentlemen-LOL!)knows about this, chances are you do too. But for some of you who don't know about Google Alerts,it sends an e-mail when a specific or phrase is used online. Great way to track what your competitors are doing, recruit, find out dirt about your competitors(Did I say that?)and more.....FREE. I am sure you knew that.

  • Trackur- Trackur is an online reputation and social media monitoring tool designed to assist you in tracking what is said about you on the internet. My dad was a real estate agent for about 40 years.  He said the most important part of selling real estate is to give good hard honest service.  I've been doing that for 27 yars, and it's been a successful plan.

Lanre, thanks for the great post.  I haven't heard of a few of these tool and thank you for compiling this list.  It's great to see not only to the negative comments people may have out there (if any) but, most importantly, to be able to link to all the possible things about our services and client's experiences with us.  Indeed the latter are a great source of testimonial - better yet they are hypertexted and can be linked to for our benefit.

PS. IF you don't already have connections in Vancouver, BC - would you be interested in becoming part of my referral database and vice versa?

Good morning, Lanre

Good tips.  I already use Google Alerts and I plan to read Justin's blog shortly.  I see your comments on other sites so we must follow some of the same people.  Like minds . . .

Have a great weekend, my friend.

Lanre ~ Hate to admit it...I had heard of Google Alerts, but didn't really know what it was used for or how it was applied. This is on my 'short list' of things to look at closer. Thanks for the info!
