Thinking of doing a seminar? THINK SHORT SALES

Everyone does the "first-time buyer" seminar....think outside the something different. Nine of ten seminars that you see real estate agents do are first time home buyers seminars. And I think that it is a great idea. But what about something on short sales. I mean how many real estate agents do you know hold seminars on short sales? I haven't seen any at all. Well,at least in my area. So I think a seminar on short sales would be a great one. With the foreclosure rate rising rapidly every month, who is best suited to educate them on this topic and how to possibly avoid it - we Real Estate Agents. You might get some first time homebuyers that will attend the seminar and will end up thanking you for educating them on something that they would've never knew about it.

So,think outside the box....I just think that this is something different to do besides the same ol first time home buyers seminar. I am planning on doing one myself.

Negotiating with banks that actually held the note, not just serviced the note, used to be productive.  However, with securitization these past few years, being able to actually get a hold of someone who has the authority to make a decision to accept less than what is owed is next to impossible.

What is your experience with this?  Have you found techniques that work when everyone that answers the phone at the bank, is actually a call center in India?

Dennis - Anytime. With the way the market is going right now,a short sale seminar can probably educate a homeowner whose home is about to go into foreclosure. Great post.

Rich - What? A call center in India? That is wild. I have never heard of that. Sorry that you are going through that. A real estate agent in my office said that short sales is not hard. The process is just very, very difficult. Hope you close your deal soon. Great post.

I agree, I am in the midst of putting together 2 real estate work shops  /  seminars.  One focuses on why it is a great to buy, the other in various methods.  I had been thinking about adding short sales to the mix.

Lewis - I haven't done one yet. I plan to do one in January.

Kris- Thank you for the advice. Can I invite you when I do decide to do one?

Sean - I think you should. I have yet to see a real estate agent do a seminar on short sales. And that's why I am doing one.
