When I first became a Active Rain member sometime last year,I really didn't know the affect that this website would have on me. This website is like a addiction. I am a writer and we writes can write all day if nobody stops us.Besides once this week when I was really tired,I make it a norm to either blog to someone's post or write a post myself everyday. I love reading other people's post.
I have learned a whole lot from just about every single post that I have read on here. I only wished that I would've discovered this website soon. But recently,I find myself blogging at least to ten posts a day. If I could more I would. But I got to be honest with you all, I find myself not just blogging to blog. I blog to get as much points as I can get. But I want to know is do just blog for points, position or both? I hope this is not a bad thing. Be on the lookout for the prequel to this blog. I think we blog to blog. Points and position not bad either. I believe all of us have something inside of us waiting to get out and blogging is a great tool to let it out..

Good question Lanre,
I first learned about active rain from my web developer. Since joining I agree it can get addictive. However I was cautioned early on by my developer to make the blog meaningful, informative, and area specific. The whole point is to get readers to find it and read it. It also provides a good source for information and links back to our websites. So in other words it is our web persona to the public so it should be a vital tool in our bag and should be treated as such.
I have a person in our area that cuts and past jokes they receive as their blog entry just to get points. out of all their entries maybe two are meaningful. I guess you have to ask your do we do this for points or do we do this as an extension of our business and marketing plan?
In my case I want to reflect the fact I am a knowledgeable broker that you can come to for real answers and give people information they can use.
Oh Lanre - You'll catch me in the DC rankings- I am going on a 2 week vacation soon! Hmm... I do think the cruise ship has Internet access..... When I get back - games on!!!
Seriously; blog for content. I have picked up an "A" buyer from blogging this summer (I had another blog pre-A/R).
Educating the consumer is what makes us different from the .com or discount brokers. So educate them - and let the competition piece act as an additional motivator to BLOG!
(BTW... My comment is #12 for today - so I am getting no points for this long comment!)
-Cheers!
Hi there, you commented on one of my posts, I hope it was for educational reasons and not for points :)
I blog for educational and marketing reasons.

Hey, James, check the posts that I did when I was at the Cape in August! A vacation is no excuse to kick the blog habit!
And Lanre, this post made me smile first thing in the morning. Now it's 10:21, and I should be on the streets by now, except that I was up late blogging!
I blog for many reasons... Points and position are awesome. But, I also blog for consumer recognition. I blog to network with other professionals outside my area. I blog because I've re-discovered my ability to write a coherent paragraph! I blog to vent! I blog to educate others and myself! I blog for feedback!
I am, therefore I blog!
Have a great weekend!
If you start to blog just for points it doesn't become fun anymore. You'll hate the thought of going on vacation because someone might get ahead of you while you're away.
Just have fun!
Patricia - I am very happy that this post made you smile woman.
Lashon - You are absolutely right. If you blog for points,it doesnt get fun anymore. You got to rest sometimes you know. I guess that's why I didn't blog at all yesterday.
Bill - I definitely blog to improve my ranking in search engines. I think we all do.
John - Thank you for responding to my blog.
Konnie - I couldn't agree with you more. I actually sometimes ending up writing something just from reading somebody's post.
Gary - You must have a whole lot to say my man.
Larry - I am definitely going to be balanced and true.
Andrew - I am going to start sending daily blogs to people as well. Great idea by the way.
Vernon - I do think that we all blog for blog. Blogging is such a great thing. You never know what you can do with blogging.
Jason & Deanna - That kind of sucks it you are putting someone's information to try and get points.
James - I truly believe that you will receive a reward later on if you blog on a consistent basis.
Daniel - That is great that blogging is helping you in the SEO.
Robert - You absolutely right. The more you respond to people's post, the higher you ranking/position will be. Great post.
Gary - I agree with you. I have been blessed by all of the real estate agents here who have taught me some things that I would've never know. Great post.
Im new to the blogging thing but its fun, points are nice also I guess. It is always nice to get your website out there also. www.TakeTheEXiT.com :)
Lanre, I agree with you about the addiction of the Rain. And yes, the more I blog the more I want to blog. Have a great day.

Lanre: I blog to educated real estate agents and the public about the benefits of home staging, to educate other stagers about how to operate a better home staging business. Beyond points and position on AR, I blog to gain a better position on Google and the search engines. My goal is to appear on page 1 of Google for all my search terms, and I do. But it is a goal that requires constant upkeep.
Scott- I have learned so much here and still learning. Now I am waiting for some buyers and sellers. Have a great weekend.
Frank-Unforunately I won't be at the Exit Convention this which sucks. Hopefully I will be there next year. Have a great weekend.
Michelle-Can you please give me some tips/advice on key terms I should use. People are just having a hard time finding me. Have a great weekend.
