Nice weather today. So I decided to take advantage of the nice weather and do some door knocking in my neighborhood. Most of them people were not home so I just left a door hanger along with my business cards attached to it. I met one man who was doing some work in front of his house. When I gave him my business card, first thing he asked me smiling was "How much do you think I get for my house?" I told him I am not sure. ( I didn't want to lie by making up a number ). But I told him I would be more than happy to do a CMA on his house. He said Okay. When he is ready,he will give me a call. Then a minute later, the mail lady putting the letters in the people's mailbox drove by. Before she drove off,I introduced myself to her and told her that if she knows anyone who is interested in buying or selling that they should please give me a call. She said that she is interested in buying herself in the same neighborhood where I was distributing my business cards and doorhangers. So she said that she will definitely give me a call. Then like ten minutes later,I met a man who is interested in buying a fixer upper in Washington,DC for up to $200,000. We had a good talk for almost thirty minutes. He was telling me about himself, his neighborhoods and the neighborhood. He even gave me his card to call him as soon as I have found him some properties.

And when I got home,I got a e-mail from someone saying that she is trying to spend up to $180,000 for a fixer upper in Washington,DC. So it was not a bad day for door knocking. Spring is here meaning more home buyers and sellers are coming who wants to play buy or sell-Yuppie!

Well it's probably not as warm up here, but I'm dooring knocking tomorrow.  It'll be start of my spring ritual.  Sound's like you had a great day, and now you've got me excited!!  Great luck with those leads!

Lanre - Great Success Story, I too enjoyed the weather today :)  It the simple things like this just by getting yourself out there and asking for the business can increase your success rate by tenfold.  Congrats on your successful day and much success for you in the future.

Good Job! I love to hear success stories about business basics like that.

I love door-knocking.  I know some agents who don't because of fear of rejection or anger.  I think in having knocked on several thousand doors I have only come across 4 people who were mean.

Hope that they all work out for you seems like you had a good day

Very productive day --- we too like knocking on doors, especially FSBO's......no one has ever slammed a door on us, but we did get lucky twice like that, not on the same day!  Hope you have even a better tomorrow!

Great Job!  My sister in California is also door knocking and with great success.  I also will be doing this, as I have done in the past.  This time when I start, I will be picking my kids up at school instead of aftercare and they will do this with me.  We will all be loaded up with bags to hang and it will be more fun for all of us!

I would love to have a reason to pay them and my CPA said this could be a service they get paid to do with me.  It will be fun sharing the success with them.  They seem to think mom only wants to talk on the phone with clients.  Congrats and keep it up.  It will continue to pay off!

Glad to hear that the door knocking worked for you! I haven't actually done it myself but I do have the doorhangers ready when I can get the time to do it.  What a great way to spend the nice day doing!

Michael -People have been told many times that buyers and sellers are every where. You never know what you can find out until you ask. Thanks for your comments.

Laura- I am glad you are excited. You are going to do much better than me tomorrow. Plan to farm some more neighborhoods this week. Thanks for your comments.

Roberta- Absolutely. I have to know that the weather should be getting warmer. Thanks for your comments.

Justin - Sometimes you have to change your strategy when things are not working out the way you want it to. Thanks for your comments.

Mark- I can understand why real estate agents hate rejection. I have to start doing it more often at apartments and condos. But it not you that they are rejecting, they are just rejecting your service at the moment. Thanks for your comments.

Bart - Can't complain. I'm expecting better days now that I plan on doing this more often with the warm weather.

Ernie & Barb - Even if they are not interested in my services,I tell them if they can give it to someone who they think might use it. You never know where your next deal might come from. Thanks for your comments.

Ashley - Thank you ashley. Taking your kids with you for door knocking is a brilliant idea especially if you doing door knocking on homes with families. Your kids are going to bring you a lot of business. I need to go borrow some kids and take them with me to do door knocking. Thanks for your comments.

Margaret - Well put. You couldn't have said it better. Thanks for your comments.

Naoma - I wanted to do it once last a week or two ago but couldn't since it rained that day and messed up my plans. Today - Much better results. Thanks for your comments.

It takes alot of tenacity and perserverance to knock on doors kudos to you on that. I never even liked cold calling- don't think I would last too long cold knocking.

Cheers

Great results. You seem to have the right attitude about it all, which should continue to give you better than average returns.

Tis door knockin season in Texas too.  Gotta do it before the weather gets too hot.  It is  a good way to get to know the folks in your farm area. I like weekend days in the afternoon.  You catch lots of folks out doing yard work, and folks just love to talk around here.
Posted by Roger Smith (Real Living Advantage Realty) about 4 years ago

Margaret -I sure you did. I definitely took advantage of the warm weather. Thanks for your comments.

Roger-Absolutely. That is the best time to catch them. I am taking a rest this weekend but from next week and on,I am farming non stop. Thanks for your comments.

GREAT POST AND GREAT RESULTS, SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO GO BACK AND START AT THE BASICS AND IF THAT WORKS THEN WHY CHANGE IT.

Lanre: Exercise and business? What a great combination! I will begin once the rain stops. One hundred cards/fliers or 3 miles. Which every comes first. Need to put the winter behind me, including the pounds.

Great job Lanre.  When I first got into the business, knocking on doors and door hangers got me a little business.  Something I will have to revisit if the weather ever works with me here in New Hampshire!

Gita- Hello Gita. Great to hear from you. I am glad my door knocking inspired you in some kind of way. I plan on doing more from now on. Thanks for your comments.

Bill-Door knocking is something that I have to do more of. In puts us right in front of the homeowners. Thanks for your comments.
