Things to do in Washington DC: Active Rain's Valparaiso Indiana Real Estate Agents were on ABC TV Show "Nightline"

Active Rain's Valparaiso Indiana Real Estate Agents were on ABC TV Show "Nightline"

Nightline is a news magazine show on ABC that I try to watch whenever I am up or not doing anything. Yesterday Active Rain's Valparaiso Indiana Real Estate Agents Jeff and Grace Safin of F.C Tucker Company in Valparaiso,Indiana were on the show.

Jeff & Grace Safrin-SpousesSellingHouses REALTORS, F.C.Tucker Company, Indiana (F.C.Tucker/Advantage Realty): Real Estate Agent in Valparaiso, IN

On the show they shared a technique called "reverse offer",a move that helped them sell 50% of their homes they tried the method with in 2008. So what is a reverse offer? Here how it works.

Once a home has a second showing, the couple gathers as much feedback as possible from the buyer's agent and works with their client to come up with an offer to present to the buyer. Anything could potentially be on the table such as price, closing cost assistance, home warranty, moving time frame and appliances. It depends on what it might take to get the buyer. Reverse offer gives the home buyer the ball in their court.

In this real estate market, you have to be very creative in order to succeed and stand out from the fierce competition. Hopefully this technique will help realtors sell more of their houses and help stimulate the housing market.

Here are some more blogs written by Active Rain members on "Reverse offer"

And of course you can WATCH Jeff and Grace on ABC Nightline Show: Desperate Households. Don't even bother calling Jeff and Grace for advice on reverse offer. They are too famous now to have any time for little real estate agents bothering them-LOL. I am joking of course.

Lanre,

While I've never been on the seller's side of a reverse offer, I've had one made to buyers I was working with.  I thought the idea was quite ingenious!  Ultimately, the reverse offer was not accepted by my buyers, but its a forward-thinking innovative technique.

I was originally drawn to read your post because of the title.  I live in West Virginia now, but grew up in Valparaiso!  The Safin Team makes this Hooser-Mountaineer proud!

Lanre, I have never heard the term "reverse offer" but have actually been on both sides. From the listing side, it could be a great way to get a buyer off the fence and make a commitment. If nothing else, at least you will know where you'll know where you stand with them. I actually had some buyers who like a particular home but were real hesitant to write, so I suggested to the listing agent that her clients "make us an offer". It got my buyers engaged and they ended up buying the home. Thanks for the post. I'm actually making it back to DC next month, hope the weather is nice.

Jeff and Grace- Thank you for introducing this technique. I have never heard of it before. But reverse offer should help more real estate agents sell their listings and like you both said hopefully stimulate this housing market. I really enjoyed watching the show.

Betina-Absolutely. We all know that we have to be very creative in this slumping housing market. Thanks for your comments.

Gary-I need to definitely subscribe to their blogs. Very good piece on ABC TV show Nightline.

Dan and Amy- I have never heard of the term too until I saw Jeff and Grace on ABC TV show Nightline. I am glad that you were able to get your clients to accept the sellers offer. Hopefully the weather should be nice next month. Thanks for stopping by. Great post.

Amy- I am glad that you were drawn to my blog from the title of my post. Maybe I did give this blog the right title after all. Thanks for stopping by.

Janie:  I commend you for recognizing Jeff and Grace and dedicating a blog about their recent TV debut!  Exposing this type of strategy to the Active Rain audience is so needed at a time such as this, and this post is definitely favorable to be featured.  I did flag the post, and hope the groups you have it listed in will highlight to a worthy top position!
